Is Johnny Damon a Hall of Famer?
When we think of Johnny Damon, now of the Tampa Bay Rays, I'm not sure many people think of a future hall of famer. Well we have a few stats to prove that he most certainly is a hall of fame caliber player.
Damon broke into the big leagues at the age of 21 on August 12, 1995 as a Kansas City Royal. Since he has played for them, Oakland, Boston, New York Yankees, Detroit, and now Tampa Bay. Damon currently has 2,665 hits, so he has a great chance to get to 3,000 if he plays a few more years. Currently he ranks 68th in MLB history for all time hits. Which seems to be a good possibility since he still enjoys it and everyone says he is in great shape. Damon has 501 doubles which ranks him 50th in MLB history 1 behind Andre Dawson. He has 1088 RBI's and 224 home runs.
Damon was a big part of the Boston Redsox 2004 world series, and there ALCS 3-1 come back against the Yankees. Then again in 2009 as part of the New York Yankees he again was a big part of a World Series Championship, and in my opinion he should of been series MVP. Don't forget he was the 2004 Sports Illustrated sports man of the year.
One thing is sure Damon who is now 37, and will be 38 later this year, will increase all of his numbers. I believe that he is a Hall of Famer right now, let alone when he retires. Do you agree?

Derek Jeter And 3000 hits
With Derek Jeter just 4 hits away from becoming the first yankee and the 28th major league play to reach the 3000 hit club questions of his place in baseball history arise. Derek Jeter will have his 3000th hit with the week thats certain, and he has accomplished allot during his great Yankee career. Derek was the 1996 Rookie of the Year, and that same year played a big role in the Yankees world series Tittle. Then won tittles again in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2009. The 2000 season Jeter became the first player in MLB history too win the all star game and world series MVP. Jeter is a 11 time all star, 5 time golden glove winner, and 4 time silver slugger award winner. In the past 10 seasons he has been at the top of run scored in the American League. All time hits leader among short stops. And of course he passed Lou Gehrigs all time Yankee hits mark.
Jeter is known to be a true proffesional and though his skills have declined he is still the captain of the New York Yankees. With all his achievements, though great, I still question if he is in the debate for all time great MLB players, or atleast the elite list. No question he is a all time great Yankee, but I think he would be at best a top 50 MLB player. He is probably top 5-7 shortstops of all time, though if A-Rod moves back over he will pass him again.
He is a great player but I think since he plays for the Yankees he gets a little more credit and of course coverage than he should of his entire career.
